The first 24 pages are a competent text in German, explaining the background of German war art. The next 75 pages are full-page illustrations of World War I and World War II German war art, sculpture and cemetery architecture, followed by an excellent bibliography of the artists whose work is featured. |

This is a very nice example of the rare German book Krieg und Kunst, Das Weltkriegserlebnis der deutschen Kunst (War and Art, the World War Experience in German Art) by Wilhelm Westecker, with a foreword by Bruno Brehm as published by Wiener Verlag in 1944. The 6-¾ x 9-1/2 inch, 112 page hardcover book is in very good condition and has 13 color and 62 black & white pictures.
A fine 1944 hardcover edition of Krieg und Kunst is complete and in very good used condition with the name of a previous owner inside the front cover. No odor.
Those artists include giants such as
Wolfgang Willrich, Fritz Klimsch, Paul Padua, Georg Kolbe, Ernst Vollbehr, Fritz von Graevenitz, Georg Kolbe,
Ernst Vollbehr, Elk Eber, Waffen-SS Mann Wilhelm Petersen, Franz Eichhorst, Arthur Kampf, Richard Scheibe, Eduard Thöne, and many others.
