BIG, HEAVILY ILLUSTRATED 1936 NAZI ORDENSBURG BOOK

This is a very good original example of a rare heavily illustrated oversized Third Reich book called Der Weg zur Ordensburg (The Path to the Ordensburg). The book was a special publication of the Reichsorganisationsleiter der NSDAP, Dr. Robert Ley, the organizational genius of the Nazi Party. It was not to be sold through the book trade in Germany according to a notice inside the front cover (see picture below). It was published in Berlin without a year, but judging from the photo content and text it appears to date from 1936.
There are big photos taken at the Ordensburg facilities at Vogelsang in the Eifel along the Belgian border, Crössinsee in Pommern (east of Berlin) and at Sonthofen in Bavaria, west of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. There is even a full-page Hermann Giesler drawing or Lageplan (shown at the top of this USMBOOKS web page), at a scale of 1:1000 for the yet-to-be completed work at Ordensburg Sonthofen.

The oversize book has huge photos of the technical side of the Ordensburgen as well - an enormous wash room, a beautifully appointed kitchen, a power plant, huge fuel tanks, etc. The book ends by explaining the criteria under which Ordensburgen were built, their capacity as schools, how they had to be integrated into the landscape, etc.
The 11-3/4 x 16-1/2 inch, 60 glossy page book explains the system of three Ordensburgen (Nazi Party Order Castles) in place in Germany and precisely how, by properly educating the very best people in the NSDAP, SS, SA, NSKK and HJ, the future of Nazi Germany would be assured through these “successors”.
The book tells which racially pure Germans could qualify for attendance at one of the three special purpose-built Ordensburgen and what the curriculum would offer to leadership candidates who came there to study.

This nearly 90 year old example of Der Weg zur Ordensburg is complete and in good used condition. It has no odor. However, the original cover shows wear, has a stain on the upper left corner and an old German repair on the back cover. As a result, we are selling this rare Third Reich publication at a reduced price.
