Zwischen Westwall und Maginotlinie, A.E. Johann 1939
2. WK Infanteristen WESTWALL
Nazi soldier breakfast in the field
Zwischen Westwall und Maginotlinie starts with an introduction by Commander of the German Army, Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch about the fighting spirit and life of the German Infanteristen in the west, and their unselfish mission for the Führer and nation.

There are 16 black & white photographs printed on glossy paper interspersed in the text. One of the photos shows two rare camo covers on the helmets of the Nazi soldiers getting food from the Gulaschkanone or field kitchen. There is also a rare camo helmet in a photo of a soldier with binoculars during a reconnaissance expedition. Other photos show soldiers with machine guns, well-armed Spähtruppen in a German village along the front, soldiers eating breakfast in the field, Nazi soldiers in trenches near the French border and others. These photos are not found in other Third Reich books.

On the front fly leaf there is a handwritten dedication dated 12 February 1940, shortly before the real war with France began.
Zwischen Westwall und Maginotlinie (Between the Siegfried Line and the Maginot Line) is subtitled “The Battle in No-Man’s Land” and tells every day experiences of men of the German Infantry that were protecting “the Rhine and forests on the border with France”.
